May the Lord encourage all of us with these words from
the psalmist:
“Hear, O LORD, and
answer me, for I am poor and needy. Guard my life, for I am devoted to
you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you. Have mercy on
me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long. Bring joy to your servant, for
to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. You are forgiving and good, O Lord,
abounding in love to all who call to you. Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to
my cry for mercy. In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will
answer me.” ~Psalm 86:1-7
As the psalmist reminds us, it is a
wonderful comfort that the Lord hears us when we cry out to Him for mercy
and strength; but let us not forget to praise Him for the mercies with which
He surrounds us day by day.
Following is a prayer and praise
calendar to be used for the month of October:
1,2&3 Praise the Lord for His daily kindness, gentleness, patience,
faithfulness and goodness, especially in light of our own unworthiness.
4&5 Pray for Diana that she would continue to find shelter in the
Lord’s everlasting care and protection, in the face of many physical
hardships.
6&7 Pray for Diana’s continued growth in grace. Her trust and
confidence in the Lord are a beautiful testimony to all around her.
8&9 Pray for Sid and Louise Anderson as they finish up their HMA and
take care of all the last-minute details before returning to Zlín.
10&11 Praise the Lord for safety for Sid and Louise in all their travels
and for many great visits with churches and individual supporters.
12&13 Pray for René and Renata Drápala that they would be encouraged and
strengthened in their ministry and service to the church in Zlín. Pray also
for René as he leads the Zlín branch of the Martin
Bucer Seminary, that he would have strength and wisdom and that he would
encourage our students to continue to grow in their knowledge and
understanding of God’s Word.
14&15 Praise the Lord for continued strength for little Viktoria
Drápalová. She is walking now and her condition is stable, even though
always tenuous.
16&17 Pray for the Andersons as they fly today to the Czech Republic and
settle back into their lives in Zlín. Pray for the Lord’s strength in this
transition.
18&19
Praise the Lord for a grand time for Hans and Gretchen Deutschmann in
their many visits with family, churches, and many friends. The times of
fellowship have been exhilarating and rich.
20&21 Continue to pray for safety for the Deutschmanns as they continue
to travel many miles. They have already traveled 14,000 miles with another
2,000 still to go.
22&23 Pray for Sarah Ingram as she continues to seek the Lord’s direction
in her life. Pray that the Lord would give her His peace as she waits on
Him to lead and guide.
24&25 Praise the Lord for His direction in the lives of our former team
members Carl and Becky Chaplin. After their interim time with MTW in
Atlanta, they will be heading up a team to go to Latvia in 2008. Please
pray for the Lord’s provision for all the needs such an endeavor entails.
26&27 Please pray for the church in Zlín that its members would
grow in grace and in their desire to reach out.
28&29 Praise the Lord for the many relationships He has opened up for us
in the Czech Republic. Pray that He would open many, many hearts to the
gospel.
30&31 Please pray for the Deutschmann’s daughter Maria who is in her last
few days of pregnancy before delivering their baby girl. Pray for her
strength and peace, as well as for safety for her and the baby and for
wisdom for Maria and Nat as they begin this new chapter in their lives.
