Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.
~Hebrews 11:1
Isn’t this faith exercised precisely when we pray? As I pray for
our many Czech friends who still don’t know Christ, and, in most cases, aren’t
at all interested in knowing Him, it is certainly an exercise of this type of
faith when we continue to pray for these dear friends day after day, in the
certainty that, in His timing, the Lord will touch and change their hearts and
minds.
Again we thank you for praying with us and believing with us that the Lord will
accomplish His purposes.
Here is the list of prayer items for the month of
April. We continue to be humbled by your commitment to the work here by means
of this crucial channel of God’s grace. Thank you so much!!
1&2 Pray for Beth (Anderson) Nedelisky as she undergoes gall
bladder surgery this Wednesday. Pray for God’s mercy in granting protection and
a speedy recovery.
3&4 Pray for one of our students who came to see the Jesus film
the week before Easter. This amazing story was new to him, but we had a great
discussion afterwards. Pray that the Holy Spirit would work a wonderful work of
grace in Petr’s heart.
5&6 Praise the Lord for the opportunities He opened up to share
the gospel and our faith before and after Easter. Pray that the Spirit would
work powerfully to open hearts and minds.
7&8 Pray for all the campers who’ve registered for our summer
camps. One camp consists of mostly non-Christians. Pray that He would prepare
these hearts to “hear” the messages each evening
9&10 Praise God for the teams from Georgia, Alabama and North
Carolina who are giving so completely of themselves to make our summer camps
possible
11&12 Pray for Dean Williams and Alan Carter who will be giving the
evening talks at two of the camps. Pray that the Lord would give them wisdom
and insight and that the Holy Spirit would prepare the way in the hearts and
minds of our campers.
13&14 Praise God for the continued ministry of Martin Bucer Seminary
(MBS) here in Zlín. Those who come are being strengthened in their faith,
calling, and commitment. Praise the Lord for the teachers He has provided.
15&16 Pray for Elizabeth Mathias who was to be MBS’s lecturer in
March. She’s seriously ill. Pray that the Lord would restore her and lift her
up so that she might be able to continue to serve the Lord and, hopefully, make
up her lectures later.
17&18 Praise God for several contacts in the U.S. who have expressed
an interest in serving here in the Czech Republic.
19&20 Pray for Sid as he’ll be traveling at least once a month to help
with a Reformed church plant in Prague. Pray for the Lord to bless this work
and to use Sid in a wonderful way as he seeks to make and multiply contacts for
the growth of the kingdom there.
21&22 Praise God for the engagement of Paul Anderson and Ashley
Black. Their wedding will be on June 13th.
23&24 Pray that Paul and Ashley would build their marriage upon Christ
and that they would always look to Him for guidance. Pray also for safety for
Sid and Louise and for all the rest who will be traveling to the wedding.
25&26 Praise God for the freedom we have here in the Czech Republic to
share our faith. Pray for wisdom and discernment to know how best to share our
faith with our students. Pray that we would be salt and light.
27 Pray for wisdom for the leaders of the Reformed Church as an
English-speaking congregation has inquired about the possibility of joining the
presbytery. Please pray for discernment and for the Lord’s leading in this
matter.
28 Praise God for more campers than we can accommodate in two
of our English camps.
29 Pray for the third camp which is being headed up by René.
The response so far has been slow. Pray for the Lord to bring more campers from
the Zlín and Slavičín area so that we might continue to minister to them once
the camp is over.
30 Continue to pray for the teams from Alabama, Georgia and
North Carolina as they raise support and plan and prepare for their classes and
activities.
