I will listen to what God the Lord will say;
He promises peace to his people, his saints –
but let them not return to folly.
Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land.
Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
and righteousness looks down from heaven.
The Lord will indeed give what is good,
and our land will yield its harvest.
Righteousness goes before him
and prepares the way for his steps.
~ Psalm 85:8--13~
What beautiful words from the Psalter to encourage, comfort and exhort us as we
begin a new year! In looking back we see that His faithfulness has been so
evident over and over again; and as we look ahead to 2008, we trust Him to give
what is good, that He will grant an abundant harvest, and that we will follow
Him in righteousness as He prepares the way for us, takes us by the hand, and
leads us.
Below you will
find a prayer and praise calendar to be used for the month of January.
1&2 Praise the Lord for His abundant grace throughout 2007. His
provision for our physical, spiritual, and emotional needs has been so evident.
3&4 Pray for an ongoing and growing desire to respond to His grace in
obedience, gratitude, and humility.
5&6 Praise for God’s mercy during the Christmas season as we felt the
separation from family acutely, while at the same time enjoying sweet times with
our Czech friends both Christian and non-Christian.
7&8 Pray for the upcoming interviews for Sarah Ingram that the Lord would
use these to provide a new job for her.
9&10 Praise the Lord for the many encouraging letters, cards, and e-mails
that were received from many of our non-Christian friends that indicate that the
Lord is working.
11&12 Please pray for the Spirit to work in the hearts of our friends that
they might begin to face their lostness, their sin, their need for a savior, and
the reality of reconciliation and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
13&14 Praise the Lord for the applications that are already coming in for the
English camps for the summer of 2008.
15&16 Pray that we would daily grow in love for Christ and that we would
constantly focus on His love for us demonstrated at such an unfathomably high
price to Himself.
17&18 Praise for the growing relationships with our students at English Plus+.
19&20 Pray for Diana as she has a month at a spa in northern Bohemia. Pray
for the Lord to give new strength to her broken body, as well as rich times of
spiritual nurturing as she reads her Bible.
21&22 Praise for the many social contacts with our Czech friends during the
Christmas holidays. To see our friends opening their hearts and homes to us is
very encouraging and humbling.
23&24 Pray for the Andersons and their family that the Lord’s grace would
continue to be sufficient for their needs.
25&26 Pray for our Pastor René as he shoulders his many responsibilities as
pastor of our little church, head of the Zlín branch of Martin Bucer Seminary,
and husband and father to his family. Praise for the continued health and
vitality of little Viktorie as she becomes a more and more active toddler.
27&28 Pray for the Deutschmanns and their family that they would grow in
grace and truth and faithfulness.
29&30 Pray for wisdom and discernment for us as we seek to connect with our
Czech friends on a deeper and deeper level.
31 Pray for our American friends who are beginning to work diligently
to put together teams and programs for this summer’s English camps specifically
Faith P.C.A. from Birmingham, Stone Bridge P.C.A. from Charlotte, King’s Chapel
from Carrollton, GA, and Peach Tree Lane from Atlanta.
