Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
~Psalm 34:8
What an amazing invitation the Lord extends to us! Prayer that is from the
heart and desires the Lord’s glory, above all else, will certainly lead to a
joyful feast for the believer in which the goodness, love, and tender care of
the Lord toward us will quiet all our fears and doubts.
May He satisfy you daily as you pray for us and the ministry here, as well as
for the many other concerns the Lord has laid on your heart. We are so grateful
for you and to you for your commitment to the work here through your prayers.
It is humbling to be supported in such a wonderful and tangible way.
Here are the
items for praise and petition that we feel led to present to you for the month
of February.
1 & 2 Praise the Lord for the ongoing work of Martin Bucer
Seminary here in Zlín. The Lord is doing a wonderful work as men and women are
instructed in and encouraged through His Word. Please pray for the family of
Pavel Mrkvánek, one of the faithful students at MBS. He recently died of cancer
after a 6-month battle. Pray for the Lord to comfort and sustain Pavel’s
family.
3 & 4– Pray that the Lord would awaken hearts and minds through our
humble efforts. We so desire to see more and more people come to know the
reconciliation, redemption, joy, peace, and purpose that are available in
Christ.
5 & 6 Praise the Lord for the progress being made in the planning
for this summer’s three English camps. Praise the Lord for our faithful
stateside partners who work so hard to prepare to come here to support us in
this crucial work each summer.
7 & 8 Pray for Sarah Ingram, former member of the team, that the
Lord would provide work for her. She desires to serve the Lord within the
church and feels called that way. Ask the Lord to continue to sustain and
encourage her and to provide for her as He sees fit.
9 & 10 We praise the Lord for the many applicants who have already
registered for our English camps. We are sad to think that we might have to
turn some people away as the camps fill up.
11 & 12 Pray for Sid Anderson as he seeks to help a small Reformed
work in Prague. He would like to spend one longer weekend each month to lend
help and encouragement to the work there. Pray for his strength and wisdom.
13 & 14 Praise the Lord for our national pastor René and his family.
They are faithful servants who have many different responsibilities. Praise the
Lord for the continued strength He’s giving to their little daughter Viktoria
who, as you may recall, has a very serious heart defect.
15 & 16 Please pray for one of our church members, Honza Krejči, who
very seriously cut his hand some weeks ago. Nerves were cut, and one finger is
totally without feeling. Further surgery is required. Please pray for
restoration and for the Lord to use this for His glory and for Honza’s continued
growth in the faith.
17 & 18 We praise the Lord for Dana, Jana, and Petr who have
completed a membership class and will soon come before the session to be
examined. Praise God for their desire to commit themselves to the visible
body. Pray for their encouragement in life and faith.
19 & 20 Pray for the session of the Reformed Church in Zlín that we
would lead and serve well. Pray for wisdom as we talk about the establishment
of an adult Sunday school program. Pray also for continued unity and humble
submission to one another as brothers in Christ.
21 & 22 Praise the Lord for a growing spirit of love and unity that
is growing among the members of our little church.
23 & 24 Pray for the students of our English classes in Zlín and in
Slavičín. Ask the Lord to open hearts as we discuss Bible texts and as we show
movies with Christian themes and messages. Above all pray that we would
faithfully live and model the gospel of Christ before our students.
25 & 26 Praise the Lord for wonderful friendships and relationships
with our English students. They truly are more than students; so many have
become personal friends.
27 & 28 Pray for Sid Anderson as he prepares to return to Uganda some
time this year to improve the Christian FM radio station that he built there two
years ago. Please also pray for the country of Uganda as it is so torn apart by
AIDS and civil war. Pray for the radio station to be a message of hope and
reconciliation through the gospel of Christ.
29 Praise God for the opportunities He gives us to share the
gospel with our Czech friends.
