“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls; yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.  The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to go on the heights..”      ~Habakkuk 3:17-19

As we pray, let us keep in mind these words from the prophet Habakkuk.  However the Lord leads any of us, may we rejoice in Him, in who He is, and in all He has done for us and will do for us – whether through joy or sorrow.  May we find our daily joy in Him and in His mercy, grace, and faithfulness.

Following is a prayer and praise calendar to be used for the month of December:

, 2, 3 & 4 - Praise the Lord for a wonderful beginning to a new year of teaching English in Zlín and Slavičín.  Pray that the Lord would open hearts this year and cause people to become unsettled by their sin and to seek the Savior.

&6 – Praise the Lord for four wonderful months for the Deutschmanns on HMA in the United States.  Times with family, churches, and friends were indescribably rich.  What a foretaste of heaven!  …only then there will be no more heart-wrenching good-byes, no more sorrows, no more tears.

&8 – Pray that the Lord would provide for Sarah Ingram as she continues to look to Him for His leading.  So far no doors have opened.  Pray that the Lord would comfort and encourage Sarah, as the wait can be discouraging, even though we know God has a perfect plan.

&10 – Praise the Lord for the safe arrival of Lillian Johnson, Nat and Maria’s little girl.  Both mom and daughter are doing well.  It was such a blessing for the Deutschmanns to be able to be with them for a little over two weeks following Lily’s birth.

&12 – Pray for our friend Pavel, a regular student of our seminary.  He is struggling with very aggressive cancer.  Pray for His peace and comfort and trust in God’s perfect will, and, if it be in the Lord’s will, that the Lord would restore him.

&14 – Praise for Jana, Dana, and Petr.  They have gone through a membership class and earnestly desire to join the church.  What an encouragement to our little flock!

&16 – Pray for Sid and Louise Anderson as they seek to faithfully serve the Lord in their various responsibilities.

&18  – Praise the Lord for the 70+ students who have enrolled in English Plus this year.

&20 – Pray that our students would have ears to truly hear the Christmas story and even more to open their hearts to the Christ of Christmas.

&22 –Praise the Lord for our national pastor René and his family.  They are such a wonderful testimony of God’s grace.

&24 – Pray that the Lord would provide for their needs and that He would use them in a powerful way as channels of His grace.

&26 – Praise the Lord for His indescribable gift of grace and mercy as we celebrate the coming of His Son Jesus into this broken and sin-scarred world.

&28 – Pray for Diana as her body causes her much pain and difficulty.  Pray that the Lord would comfort, encourage, and strengthen her – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

, 30 &31 – Praise the Lord for His rich mercy this past year and for the assurance of His faithful and perfect leading in 2008.
